Hoya Harvest Garden

The Hoya Harvest Garden is creating a sense of shared responsibility around sustainable food systems by integrating farming spaces into the campus. We generate food and hands-on learning experiences for the community while sparking dialogue around human impacts and food production. Visit us at Regent’s 4th Floor Patio!

A Not-So-Secret Garden That Whets More Than Appetites

The Hoya Harvest Garden may look like a garden, but it’s much more. This living laboratory generates fresh produce for Georgetown’s food pantry and offers hands-on learning experiences for students.

Where does the produce go?

The harvest from the garden—including our greens, vegetables, and herbs—is distributed to the Georgetown and wider DC community through our garden partners.

“Emma Rose is a sophomore in the College majoring in American Studies and English. She is excited to learn more about how to run a successful farm and is looking forward to the hot DC summer.”

“Daisy is a junior in the college studying Environmental Biology and Justice and Peace Studies, with a minor in Spanish. She grew up in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where she got her start gardening. Daisy is beyond excited to see the garden change with the seasons and to try all of the huge variety the garden offers! Admittedly, she is first and foremost a die hard squash fan, and so is most looking forward to watching the garden’s squash tunnel come to life.”

“El is a junior from New Hampshire double majoring in Government and Spanish with an Environment & Sustainability minor. She is passionate about environmental advocacy, international affairs, and nonprofit development. During her free time, she loves hiking, listening to podcasts, and trying out new recipes with fresh vegetables from the garden.”

“Providing food locally to people who need it or don’t have access, creating a green space on campus, creating a place for Georgetown to be outdoors, let loose, and get their hands dirty—the Hoya Harvest Garden makes all of this possible for our community.”
