Professor Blair's research interests reside at the interface of materials physics, engineering and biology. Specifically, his field is described as Soft Matter. Soft matter physics is a sub-field of condensed matter and uses the tools of engineering and biology to describe how complex liquids, such as foams, gels, pastes, polymers, and biological tissues flow and deform.
