With a commitment to the Georgetown core value of caring for our common home, we encourage Georgetown students to engage in action for the environment. The following is a list of student groups with an environmental or sustainability focus.
Georgetown Eco Consultants
Georgetown’s only consulting club focusing on the intersection of business and sustainability. GEC advises DMV-area businesses and nonprofits on how to reduce their impact on the environment.
Georgetown Environmental Leaders*
A student group that facilitates cooperation between environmental groups and departments at Georgetown and helps sustainability-minded students find organizations that suit their interests.
GREEN (Georgetown Renewable Energy and Environmental Network)
The largest sustainability-focused club on campus, Education, Gardening, Energy & Water, Environmental Justice, Zero Waste, and Bees teams where members can focus on particular environmental issues
Hoya Hive/Georgetown Beekeeping
The Hoya Hive, part of GREEN is responsible for keeping bees on Georgetown’s campus and spreading awareness for our buzzing friends.
University Farmers’ Market
Aims to promote the benefits of local and sustainable agriculture, support local businesses, encourage a holistic view of nutrition, and develop a community engaged in these topics
Georgetown University Veg Out*
A club for those interested in reducing their animal product consumption. Meetings frequently revolve around (preparing and consuming) food, but also include thoughtful conversation, advocacy, education and other activities.
Outdoor Education
Seeks to teach, to inspire, and guide students, creating a community where learning, personal challenge, reflection, and increased compassion for others and the environment are fostered and upheld as core values
Net Impact—McDonough School of Business
Net Impact empowers a new generation to drive social and environmental change throughout their careers. Our volunteer-led chapter drives change by creating a like-minded community and providing events and programs that support members who aim to use business as a force for environmental & social impact.
Slow Food
Aims to broaden the Georgetown student body’s awareness of the importance of universal access to food that is good, clean, and fair
Citizens’ Climate Lobby Georgetown*
Georgetown’s chapter of Citizens’ Climate Lobby, a non-profit, nonpartisan, grassroots advocacy organization focused on generating the political will necessary to pass national policy addressing climate change.
The McCourt Energy & Environmental Policy Group
The McCourt Energy & Environmental Policy group engages students, academics, and practitioners on policy issues related to energy and the environment.
Corp Green
Students of Georgetown, Inc., commonly known as “The Corp”, is a public, non-profit, and charitable organization at Georgetown University in Washington D.C. We consist of eight subsidiary companies generating annual revenues in excess of $5 million. Only undergraduate students of Georgetown University work as employees or sit as members of The Corp’s Board of Directors, distinguishing business operations at The Corp from other student-run companies.
